Events

At Walt Disney World there are a number of special events that happen during the year. These consist of:

1. Disney After Hours

2. Seasonal Parties

3. Nightly parties

4. EPCOT festivals

5. Additional cost tours

Disney After Hours

Disney After Hours requires an additional ticket that anyone can purchase. Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Typhoon Lagoon all offer Disney After Hours events throughout the year. The costs and hours vary for each park and each night although this event is only offered on certain nights during the year. Included in the costs are certain drinks and snacks. You can enter each park at 7 pm using the event ticket, no need for a day ticket. 

Seasonal Parties

Disney World offers 3 seasonal parties with each one requiring an additional ticket that anyone can purchase. These events happen only on select nights from August to the end of December. On each event night you can get into the park using the special event ticket before the event begins (start time varies by event), no need for a day ticket. These events sell out fast so make sure to book your tickets early.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

These events begin in early August and continue on select nights (typically 3 nights a week) ending on Halloween night. This event includes the iconic Boo To You Parade and Disney's Not So Spooky Spectacular Fireworks. You can also follow a treat trail to fill your Halloween bag (provided) with candy. There is also special event merchandise as well as snacks that can not be purchased any other time.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

These events begin in early November and continue on select nights, typically ending a couple nights before Christmas. During this event you can meet special characters such as Jack and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas and of course Santa. Highlights include Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas Parade and Minnie's Wonderful Christmas Time Fireworks. There is also special event merchandise as well as snacks that can not be purchased any other time.

Jollywood nights

These events begin in early November and continue on select nights, typically ending a couple nights before Christmas. This event includes the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam show along with various entertainment such as What's This Nightmare Before Christmas Sing Along and Holidays In Hollywood featuring the Muppets. There are numerous locations to purchase drinks and bites that harken back to the holidays in old Hollywood. There is also special event merchandise as well as snacks that can not be purchased any other time.

Nightly Parties

There are several additional ticket events at Magic Kingdom, Contemporary Hotel, and EPCOT that offers you desserts or food along with fireworks viewing. 

Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties

There are multiple options for a Magic Kingdom Fireworks party for you to choose from. All include a dessert party and viewing of the fireworks. Each is also an additional event price which varies by day. All of these can be booked 60 days before the start of the trip and do often sell out.

  • Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party - Pre Party - Your ticket gets you a dessert party before the fireworks and a spot in a prime viewing area for the fireworks.

  • Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party  - Seats and Sweets - Your ticket gets you a dessert party during the fireworks with viewing of the fireworks from Tomorrow Land Terrace.

  • Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Party - Post Party - Your ticket gets you a spot in a prime viewing area for the fireworks followed by a dessert party.

Celebration at the top of Contemporary Hotel - Sip, Savor, and Sparkle

The Contemporary Hotel is right next to Magic Kingdom and includes a roof top terrace. This extra ticket event allows you to enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvers, and the fireworks.

Fireworks Cruises

You can do this at either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. You charter a private boat from one of the Disney World marinas to get an up close view of the fireworks while enjoying select drinks and snacks. 

Geo 82 Firework Experience

This is adults only fireworks viewing within EPCOT where you can enjoy light bites, drinks, and fireworks views from the Geo 82 lounge.

EPCOT Festivals

During the year there are 4 distinct festivals celebrated throughout EPCOT. Each festival includes special merchandise and food along with special events. 

Festival of the Arts

Generally begins in early January but the end time has varied from year to year. This festival covers the visual, culinary, and performing arts and includes Disney on Broadway Concert Series. 

International Flower and Garden Festival

Includes Disney themed topiary displays, gardens, and the Garden Rocks Concert Series

Food and Wine

Includes global cuisines at outdoor kitchens with Eat to the Beat Concert Series

Festival of the Holidays

Showcases International holiday traditions and the Candle Light Processional

Additional Cost tours

Disney World offers several different tours you can take within the parks, each at an additional cost. Some are tours that are part of a ride and others are day long tours.

EPCOT Seas The Adventure Dive Quest

Must have open water scuba certification and at least 10 years old. Imerse yourself in a scuba experience with the EPCOT Seas Pavilion. 

Behind the Seeds

In the Land Pavilion at EPCOT. One hour tour of the fish farm and greenhouses with the Land Pavilion including part of the Living with the Land ride.

Wild Africa Trek

At Animal Kingdom and you must be 8 years old to take part. This is a 3 hour long tour of animals that live within the Safi River Valley and includes African inspired snacks. Safety harnesses are used and closed toed shoes are required.

Savor the Savana

At Animal Kingdom and you must be 8 years old to take part. While you enjoy the Savana scenery enjoy a sampling of African inspired cuisine paired with regional beer and wine offerings.

Caring for Giants

At Animal Kingdom and you must be 8 years old to take part. This is a one hour tour where you get a glimpse into the day to day care of elephants.

Up Close With Rhinos

At Animal Kingdom and you must be 4 years old to take part. This is a one hour tour where you get up close with the Rhino keepers

Starlight Safari at Animal Kingdom Lodge

At Animal Kingdom Lodge and you must be 8 years old to take part. While in an open sided ride vehicle you can look for 30 different species of African wildlife during this after dark safari.

Keys to the Kingdom Tour

At Magic Kingdom and must be 16 years old. This is a 5 hour walking tour that explores the creation and growth of Magic Kingdom. You get the inside scoop on some of your favorite attractions and explore secret locations you have always wondered about.

VIP Tour

This is not specific to a park. Instead you can customize which park or parks you want to visit and in what order. This is a private VIP tour for up 10 people, the price per hour is the same no matter the number on the tour and range from $450 to $950 per hour with a minimum of 7 hours and maximum of 10 hours. During the VIP tour you will get your own VIP tour guide and be able to visit the parks and get VIP transportation between park.
