Brian's Disney Origin Story

I had only been to Disney World one time, in 2003, before meeting Faith in November 2010. Faith was, and still is, a high school cheerleading coach and her team qualified to take part in the Cheerleading Nationals competition in Disney World (ESPN Wide World of Sports) over a weekend in February 2011. Although we had only been dating for about 3 months I asked to tag along and I am so happy that I did! I do not remember that much of that trip but I remember being amazed by everything Disney World. As a project manager the logistics were so cool to me, this came up again a few years later when Disney started to use Magic Bands, I was amazed by the data analytics that could take place. Besides the logistics and technical aspects of Disney World I found myself people watching, which was enlightening. I saw so many families enjoying their experience and a few not so much. That stayed with me in later years as well when people watching in the parks.

Faith and I were married in November 2012 and went on our honeymoon in February 2013 with the last part of our trip being a week at Disney World. Before we arrived in Disney World we found out Faith was pregnant with Emerson. That trip we started out with thousands of cheerleaders at one of the All Start resorts and ended it with just the two of us at French Quarter. One of my most vivid memories (one that Faith probably wants to forget), is spending a rainy day in Epcot with Faith getting sick in pretty much every country.

In September 2013 our daughter Emerson was born. We took her with us (and the cheerleaders) to Disney World in February 2014 for the first time. There were not many rides she could go on that year but we could tell she enjoyed the parks, not so much with the characters. She has never been one to like the characters, in fact we have a picture of her hiding and crying under a chair at Crystal Palace while Pooh stands near by.

Over the next few years we continued to take Emerson to Disney with us and the cheerleaders every February. Most years as a family we stayed a couple of days before or after the cheerleaders so we could spend family time at Disney. I would take Emerson to the parks while Faith and the cheerleaders practiced. I loved that time together, just the two of us enjoying the parks. I vividly remember buying her an Elsa Frozen bubble wand in Hollywood Studios, she loved Frozen (and still does). Seeing her face light up at the different characters like Elsa and others (sometimes from a distance) was and still is such a great feeling. We have had so many great experiences and made so many great memories over the last more than a decade of going to Disney parks and more recently Disney Cruise Line. If you want to see more about our adventures check out the Our Adventures page. I am looking forward to our planned Disney World and Disney Destiny trips this summer followed by a Disney Magic trip over Thanksgiving. I am also looking forward to bringing you along for our new adventures.
